Everything is mixed, nothing is alike
Two couples, a 4 year old child, and Gior gio, the cat. The chalet where they stayed for five days is owned by the Bugnon Foundation and is located near Chateau d’Oex, a few hundred meters from the former residence of the painter Balthus.
During the Easter weekend, they shared cameras, vintage clothes, painting supplies, paper, and many hours in the kitchen. They had endless and brilliant discussions. and instead of celebrating resurrection, they celebrated a great creative mass. The chalet dates back to the 1700s, the light is the difficult and raw one of the pre-Alps, the faces and bodies are unique, they do not speak of fashion, they do not act: they eat, love. say swear words.
They consumed little alcohol but a lot of smoke, that of the large fireplace that was constantly burning and that of tobacco.
The cameras pass from hand to hand, they are not placed on tripods. there is no trick. the hands do not tremble becau se words comfort even if sometimes they shake, as in any respectable friendship.
The snapshots are out of time, ultra-con-temporary and acidic, in some ways unpleasant but pictorial. They are portraits of a party. portraits of faces and words. of smells and fires. They are unwanted. hated portraits that demonstrate love.
Everything is mixed. nothing is alike.
